Leeds United are not interested in signing Sky Bet Championship striking pair Jonathon Kodjia and Britt Assombalonga according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Aston Villa front man Jonathon Kodjia and Middlesbrough forward Britt Assombalonga had both been linked with a move to Leeds in recent weeks, but sources close to the Elland Road club have told the Yorkshire Evening Post that there is no substantial interest there.
The Yorkshire club had appeared to turn their attentions to the pair after talks with Derby County striker Matej Vydra had collapsed after a disagreement over wages.
Leeds’ pursuit of former Hull City striker Abel Hernandez also appeared to collapse as he edged closer to a permanent switch to Russia, but his future right now is currently up in the air.
The news that Leeds are not interested in signing Kodjia and Assombalonga will concern Leeds United supporters, and with the season less than a month away from starting, Whites supporters are growing increasingly worried that they do not currently have an experience goal scorer.
Last season, Kemar Roofe was the club’s top goal scorer with 14 goals, but the former Oxford United winger has been linked with a move to boyhood club West Brom this summer.
Goals were a real issue for Leeds United last summer. Pierre-Michel Lasogga spent the season on loan at Elland Road, but he has since returned to his parent club, while Caleb Ekuban, who joined the club last summer, failed to make any sort of real impact in the Sky Bet Championship.
