According to Football Insider, Chelsea defender Todd Kane is primed to sign for Hull City on a free transfer. The Premier League club, now managed by former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, is likely to be released from his contract to allow him to pen a deal with Nigel Adkins’ side.
Kane, aged 24, has been on the books at Stamford Bridge for some time, but has failed to make a single appearance in the first-team. Like many youngsters with the Blues, he has had several loan spells away. This included stints at Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest, before spending the last few seasons in the Dutch league.
Adkins is keen on strengthening his defence, which has seen him lose some key players this summer. Focusing on the right back spot specifically, which is where Kane mostly has played, Moses Odubajo moved on after deciding against signing a new contract. Whilst the player will be moving on from Chelsea, the club have decided to input a sell-on clause in his contract. Therefore, the club will receive a fee from any possible future sale, should he indeed have a productive spell in Humberside.
Interestingly, Hull have already added a right back in the form of Eric Lichaj this summer. Therefore, it is possible Adkins may have a few ideas up his sleeve with regards to selection and formation. David Milinkovic, Reece Burke and Jordy de Wijs have already signed at Hull this summer, joining from Genoa, West Ham United and PSV Eindhoven respectively.
