Sheffield United have taken experienced striker David McGoldrick on trial.
The Blades will now look at and weigh up whether to give the 30-year-old a deal. McGoldrick has been looking for a new club since leaving Ipswich Town at the end of the season.
Sheffield United are in the hunt for some new signings as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming Championship season. Their manager, Chris Wilder, has already brought in highly-rated goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a season-long loan from Manchester United but wants more.
The Blades are no doubt wanting to sign a striker or two before the campaign starts. They have been heavily linked with a move for Aston Villa’s Scott Hogan and Southampton’s Sam Gallagher, who has spent time from the Saints at MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City in recent seasons.
David McGoldrick is a new name to enter the frame for the Blades’ search for an attacking options. He is a free agent and has scored goals in the Championship before so is definitely worth taking a look at.
Here is how the Sheffield United fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that they have taken David McGoldrick on trial-
Why sign another 30+ Centre Forward with no pace? We already have a couple of them. Stinks of Donaldson mkii and If this is the Calibre of signings Wilder can attract then get ready for another League One tour. #twitterblades https://t.co/Ry3UKRZiur

Can’t wait for shoes off if we sign McGoldrick on a free rather than spunking £10m on a striker….. personally thought him n Waghorn looked good in a poor Ipswich side last year at the lane. #TwitterBlades #sufc

Any #TwitterBlades idiots complaining about Mcgoldrick coming on TRIAL. 1) its just a trial at moment why wouldn't we take a look! 2) none of this affects Wilder targets or other incomings 3) is he an improvement on Wilson and Donaldson if we did sign him…I'd say yes….
