According to the Sun journalist, Alan Nixon, there’s “not much money” to spend at Wigan Athletic until the people taking over the club inject more money into the club.

When asked if there was “any movement at Wigan? Nixon replied with, “Not much money until takeover people put more in”.

This summer transfer window can be the difference between relegation and survival for clubs who are expected to be scrapping down at the bottom of the league. The Latics have already brought in four more players. Goalkeeper Christian Walton has arrived from Brighton, Kia Naismith from Portsmouth, Leonardo Lopes from Peterborough and Reece James from Chelsea.

Despite this, the Wigan Athletic fans don’t seem confident about the new season with their current squad and many do believe they need to bring even more firepower in to the club. Unfortunately until the new Chinese owners put more money into the club, this isn’t going to happen.

Wigan Athletic won promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking. They went up as League One Champions as they beat Blackburn Rovers to the title on the final day.

Wigan were taken over by a Chinese firm following promotion at the end of last season. They promised to inject £22m into the club but this amount hasn’t been fulfilled as of yet. Wigan fans will be praying the money is put into the club as soon as possible because the transfer window shuts in just a few weeks and they still need more additions.
