The transfer window is open and the new season is just around the corner. Transfers are vital and more often than not are the difference between relegation and survival. Who are the favourites for relegation to the Championship.

The outright favourites for relegation are newly promoted Cardiff City. The bookies are currently pricing them at 8/13 to return straight to the Championship. This will shock nobody given they’re Premier League newbies with less money and Premier League experience than almost every other Premier League club. An instant return to the Championship is certainly on the cards for the Bluebirds.

The second favourites are Huddersfield Town with a price of 6/5. Huddersfield Town are entering their second season in the Premier League after they shocked everyone by staying up following a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. With the second season comes second season syndrome and a lot of teams seem to struggle with it. Huddersfield have already got the cheque book out this window. They spent £20m on AS Monaco defender Terrance Kongolo who was on loan at the Terriers last season. Could money be what helps Huddersfield survive the drop to the Championship a second time?

Finally, the third favourites to be relegated back to the Championship are Fulham. They’ve been priced at 7/4 with the bookies following their promotion via the play-offs last season. The biggest reason for the short odds on Premier League survival is that they’ve signed absolutely nobody. No team can survive without spending money and these next few weeks are going to be crucial for Fulham’s season. They need to bring in some new players or there’s only one place they’re heading.
