The favourites for relegation to League One this season are Rotherham United. They are currently the outright favourites at 6/5. Now they’re back, they’ll be looking for a massive improvement but it just doesn’t seem likely and many have written the South Yorkshire club off before the season has even started.
The second favourites for relegation are Bolton Wanderers with odds of 11/8. Bolton were relegated back in 2016 but returned at the first time of asking in 2017. Last season, the survived by the skin of their teeth just two points above Barnsley. Now their players have gone on strike things are looking increasing bleak for them.
Finally, the third favourites for relegation are Ipswich Town with odds of 11/4. This may come as a shock to some but given they lost their manager Mick McCarthy last season and appointed an inexperienced Championship manager in Paul Hirst, you can see why the bookies have them as one of the favourites for relegation.
The Championship has more money than ever in it and smaller teams like Ipswich Town and Rotherham United are struggling because of it. It’ll be interesting to see who suffers the most this season and ultimately get relegated.
