Cairns, Bristol City taking close look at Fleetwood Town goalkeeper

Bristol City taking close look at Fleetwood Town goalkeeper

Bristol City are taking a close look at signing Fleetwood Town’s Alex Cairns according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

While Frank Fielding has been a solid number one for Bristol City over the last few years, the club are now looking for someone else who can be a star in between the sticks. Ever since the transfer window opened this summer, they have been looking across the country to find the man who can be their new shot stopper. And it appears that they have found the man they are looking for.

They have been taking a close look at Cairns recently. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been building a good CV for himself over the last few years. After coming through the Leeds United academy and failing to make the breakthrough there, only making one appearance, he would have spells at Rotherham United and Chesterfield but once again, struggled to get into the first team. However in the two years he has been at Fleetwood, he has shown himself to be one of the best goalkeepers in the league and it is no surprise to see eyes from the Sky Bet Championship watching him over.

With Bristol City getting plenty of money for selling both Aden Flint and Bobby Reid, they would definitely have the money to wrap this deal up should they wish. However the concern would be that because Fleetwood know they have that money burning a hole in their pockets, they may drive the value up so they can get a good deal for the potential sale of Cairns.
