Match Report – Bury FC 0-0 Liverpool FC

Earlier this afternoon, League Two Bury shocked Premier League Liverpool in a 0-0 draw at Gigg Lane.

Liverpool came into this game having notched ten times in their first two pre-season game but failed to score a single goal in this game. Whereas Bury came into this game having conceded ten times in their first two pre-season games but didn’t concede today.

Early on in the match Joel Matip played an excellent ball into the path of striker Divock Origi but his shot was smartly saved by the Bury goalkeeper, Joe Murphy, Several more chances came to the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Sheyi Ojo but none of these chances were converted.

A wayward back pass from Alberto Moreno was latched onto by Gold Omotayo but, after he’d done the hard part in getting around Loris Karius, he saw his attempt at goal miss the mark completely and go out for a goal kick. The second half ended Bury 0-0 Liverpool.

The second began in the same fashion as the first. Chance after chance came for the Reds but they failed  to convert any of them.

Adam Lallana, Joe Gomez and Ben Woodburn all had chances but all were denied. Adam Lallana by a last ditch goal line clearance, Joe Gomez by the woodwork and Ben Woodburn by the stretched out hand of Joe Murphy.

The game may have ended as a stalemate but it should have been far that. Liverpool dominated from first minute until last and despite the lack of goals, it was an excellent Liverpool performance.
