Bradford City summer signings to be handed debuts at York City

Bradford City’s summer signings Hope Akpan and Sherwin Seedorf will make their first appearances for their new club in a pre-season friendly against York City at Bootham Crescent on Saturday afternoon according to the Telegraph & Argus.

Midfielder Akpan joined The Bantams on a two-year deal last week after leaving Burton Albion while highly-rated winger Seedorf is currently on loan at the Northern Commercials Stadium at Valley Parade from English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Both players were not fit enough to face National League North outfit Guiseley on Tuesday evening as Bradford City fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat.

It has now been suggested that Akpan and Seedorf will both feature for their new club in their second pre-season outing against York City at Bootham Crescent on Saturday. The Bantams will make what is likely to be their last-ever trip to the North Yorkshire venue with the home side set to move to a new stadium at Monks Cross in 2019/2020.

Akpan has plenty of experience in the English Football League. The 26-year-old has 220 senior appearances to his name while he has scored 16 goals. The midfielder enjoyed 25 appearances for former club Burton Albion in the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Fellow new arrival Seedorf is said to possess bags of pace and could really impress in his first season of senior football. The youngster came through the youth ranks at Dutch club Feyenoord before moving to current club Wolves.

The match kicks-off at 1pm with a four-figure away following set to be recorded.
