Premier League side Southampton are chasing young Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis, according to a report from the Sheffield Star.
The 20 year old was signed by Villa in 2015 from Non-League outfit Biggleswade Town.
He made his senior debut for the Villains in 2017 in the FA Cup, coming off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur.
He has made 34 appearances in the Championship for Villa, scoring 2 goals.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Davis would provide a powerful and physical presence up top for the Saints, but it is understood that he would initially join up with the U23 squad.
Scott Hogan has failed to fully establish himself during his time at Villa and he looks set to depart the club this summer.
Sheffield United have been heavily linked with a move for the former Brentford man, but a potential deal rests on the future of Keinan Davis.
If Davis joins Southampton, it opens the door for Hogan to return to the Villa squad.
However, if the former Biggleswade man stays in the Midlands, it is likely that Hogan could be playing his football at Bramall Lane next season.
Since making his debut for Villa, Davis has been called up for the England U20’s on three occasions, however he has yet to find the back of the net for the Young Lions.
He has been primarily used as an impact sub by Steve Bruce, but could be finding a new home on the South Coast come the start of the season.
Davis has made a name for himself at Villa Park and there is a bright future ahead of him, whether that be with Villa or not.
