Sheffield United’s interest in Leeds United star played down

Earlier today, the72 reported that Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion were both interested in signing Leeds United’s versatile forward Kemar Roofe.

Roofe was the Whites top scorer last season, finding the back of the net 14 times, and with the lack of incomings so far, it is highly unlikely that the club will want to lose one of their biggest attacking threats.

West Brom were named as the favourites to re-sign the player that came through their youth set-up, but Sheffield United were also tipped to be interested in the 25-year-old.

However, Alan Nixon of the Sun has tweeted stating that he does not believe there is any interest from Sheffield United.

In response to a Blades fan asking: “Roofe to Sheffield United looking more realistic than other targets,” Alan Nixon responded: “If there was interest.”

Although this is not black and white by any means, it appears to us that Nixon is stating that the Blades have shown no interest in Kemar Roofe, and that they are literally just rumours.

This will be good news to both Leeds United and West Brom fans. Leeds supporters will see it as one less club interested in one of their star players, while the Baggies faithful will welcome the fact that there is now no competition for the former Oxford United man.

Kemar Roofe joined Leeds United back in July 2016, signing a four-year deal after completing the switch from Oxford United. Although the official fee was undisclosed, it was revealed that it was a seven figure fee.
