Championship club are favourites to sign Joe Hart in shock deal

Birmingham City are now 2/1 favourites to sign former Manchester City and England Number One, Joe Hart during this transfer window according to SkyBet.

Somewhat surprisingly, Birmingham City have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the goalkeeper who looks almost certain to leave Manchester City this summer after failing to impress Pep Guardiola and work his way into the goalkeeping frame at the Etihad.

The goalkeeper had a spell with Birmingham City on loan during his time at the Etihad in which he made 36 appearances for the Championship side and it’s thought that Hart could be set for a move back to the Championship in a deal that would enable him to return to St. Andrews.

Hart has spent the last two seasons on loan with Torino and West Ham United and now with the goalkeeper leaving the Etihad, Birmingham City would be keen to take the keeper and resolve their current situation with their current shot-stopper David Stockdale effectively being frozen out and set for a move elsewhere during this transfer window.

Joe Hart began his career in the Football League with Shrewsbury Town before he earned his big move to Manchester City and then went on to make 75 appearances for the England National Team from 2008 onwards.

Although Hart would most likely command large wages, a move away from the Etihad would mean the ‘keeper would get chance to become a number one once again and play regular football, something which he most likely wants more than a hefty pay packet given the fact he’s only 31-years-old.
