Rangers bid £3m for Millwall star

After the announcement yesterday that Rangers had completed the loan signings of Lassana Coulibaly and Umar Sadiq from Angers and AS Roma respectively, it was clear that manager Steven Gerrard wasn’t resting on his laurels.

The club are now looking into the possibility of signing Millwall defender Jake Cooper, with Sky Sports reporting that a bid of around £3m had been submitted for the former England youth international.

Cooper only joined Millwall and the beginning of the 2017/18 season from Reading, following an impressive loan spell at the Den in League One the year before.

Huge underdogs last year, Neil Harris’ men shocked many with their monumental climb up the Championship towards the back end of the season, with The Lions setting a new club-record of 17 league games without defeat, including nine clean sheets.

The unity and togetherness that Millwall showed last year was unprecedented in the clubs history, even the ageing Steve Morison looked in his prime during their incredible run, and the belief that a playoff place was ahead of them made it all the more special. In the end, Harris’ men had pushed too late, but if the club are able to keep hold of their star players, such as Cooper and bring in some further firepower, a repeat of last season could truly be on the cards.

Millwall have already missed their shot with one singing, losing out on the signature of Ben Marshall on a permanent basis, the club have now turned their attention to Tom Bradshaw from newly relegated Barnsley.
