5 Championship mangers who are already under pressure

Lee Clark – Birmingham City

A header from a mere two-yards out from Paul Caddis, his first headed goal of his career; saved Birmingham City’s Championship status and probably Lee Clark’s job. Birmingham’s points total for the season was poor. More often than not 44 points would see you relegated and most of the time even finishing bottom of the pile. Thankfully for the Blues their were three teams who were even worse than they were in Barnsley, Doncaster and Yeovil.

Lee Clark enjoyed a good spell at Huddersfield Town despite failing to get them promoted. During his time at the John Smith’s Stadium Huddersfield went a phenomenal 43-game unbeaten run, a Football League record. His time at Birmingham, certainly last season; was a huge contrast. The club won just two games at home in the league all season and looked certainties for relegation after losing five games in a row at the end of the season before the draw against Bolton.

The club showed great spirit and determination to fight back at the Reebok and secure the point required to keep them in the league which will encourage Clark. He has also been allowed to add nine new recruits to his squad in an attempt to avoid another season of struggle. After being backed by the club’s hierarchy to bring in players like Clayton Donaldson and David Cotterill, the board will be expecting that the Blues are not in the same mess as they were last season. To add to that if Birmingham again under-perform at home once more fans will begin to get restless, leaving Clark’s position at the club on thin-ice.
