Birmingham City are being tipped by Sky Bet as one of the teams who could sign Manchester City’s Joe Hart.
It’s fair to say Hart’s reputation has taken a nosedive over the last few years. He had been both Manchester City and England number one but when Pep Guardiola became head coach of the Citizens, he soon dropped him to the bench in favour of Claudio Bravo and now Ederson. Most recently he was loaned out to West Ham United but that spell was filled with errors which ended up losing him the England number one spot. He did not get picked to go to the 2018 World Cup with Jordan Pickford taking his spot.
With his loan at West Ham over, he is now back at Manchester City who are doing their best to sell him. Several clubs have been linked the bookies believe that he could soon be at Birmingham City. They have given them odds of 12/1 to sign Hart which may be an outside shot but it is smaller odds than given to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea. The favourites are currently any MLS club, Sporting Lisbon and Nice.
It’s likely that Birmingham have been given these odds because he does have history with Birmingham City. This was the loan spell where Hart finally appeared on many people’s radars as a top player for the future, with many pundits labelling him there and then that he would soon be the England number one. Perhaps a return to the West Midlands would help Hart find the form that made him a star today.
