It appears that, with the arrival of Jordan Rhodes into Norwich City from Sheffield Wednesday, Nelson Oliveira will be on his way out of Norwich City. This is according to sports journalist, Alan Nixon, on twitter.
When Alan Nixon was asked on twitter if the imminent Norwich City signing of striker Jordan Rhodes would see Nelson Oliveira move on, Nixon replied with “Think so”.
Norwich City signed Nelson Oliveira from Portuguese club Benfica for just over £5m. This is following a loan spell, the season prior to this, to fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest. He has also had a loan spell at Swansea City who were in the Premier League at the time.
Nelson Oliveira played 39 matches in all competitions for Norwich City last season but only scored eight goals. With an average ‘Who Scored’ match rating of just 6.7 out of ten he’s been far from impressive and that’s why Jordan Rhodes has been brought in from South Yorkshire.
Rhodes once scored 42 goals in a single season for Huddersfield Town. This includes an incredible five hat-tricks in that season. This helped him earn to big money move to, then Championship, Blackburn Rovers. Although, the Scotsman hasn’t been the same striker he used to be since he joined Middlesbrough from Blackburn Rovers and his career has unfortunately grinded to an abrupt halt. Rhodes made 31 league appearances last season but almost half of these (14) came from the bench and he’s not been a regular starter for any club since his Blackburn days. Rhodes will be hoping this move can re-boot his career into life and get his goal scoring form of old back again.
