League One, Two free agents that could improve any League One side

Two free agents that could improve any League One side

With the quality of the Championship as high as ever there’s been a spike in free agents coming from Championship clubs who just don’t need the players. Here’s two quality free agents who would improve any League One side

Ross Wallace

At 33 years of age Ross Wallace has recently been released from struggling Sheffield Wednesday. Being 33 means he’s coming towards the back end of his career. He played 27 times last season, completing just over 1,900 minutes on the pitch but only contributed to four goals. Could it be time for the Scotsman to take the step down to League One?

The 33-year-old has 408 competitive matches under his belt so would bring tons of experience to any club. Although, his wages may be above average for any third tier club so only the top League One clubs may be able to afford him. Nevertheless, he’d still improve every single League One club who are hoping for promotion next season.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas

Jay Emmanuel Thomas is a 27-year-old free agent who last played for Championship club Queens Park Rangers. Having been around the block a bit the Englishman has plenty of experience in League One and the Championship. He’s made 110 League One appearances for Gillingham and Bristol City, scoring 32 goals and assisting on 19 occasions.

At the age of just 27 he’s should still in his prime footballing years and could yet develop even further. Any club signing him would know they have a very reliable striker on their hands who will score goals for them consistently.
