Atdhe Nuhiu backed to terrorize defences by Sheffield Wednesday team mate

Sheffield Wednesday’s Tom Lees has told the Sheffield Star that he backs his team-mate Atdhe Nuhiu to terrorize defences once again this season.

At the start of last season, Nuhiu’s career at Wednesday looked bleak. The club had lots of top quality strikers such as Jordan Rhodes, Gary Hooper and Steven Fletcher which meant he was lucky to make the bench at times. He even said in an interview that he would most likely not be signing a new contract with the club as he was sick of not getting first team football.

However when injuries devastated the Wednesday first team, Nuhiu got a chance again and he took it. He soon became one of new head coach Jos Luhukay’s favourite players and repaid that faith with plenty of goals. He would end up scoring 14 goals in 38 appearances which included nine goals in the last eight games of the season. And Lees believes he is going to continue to terrorize defences across the Sky Bet Championship this season.

He said: “The form that Atdhe finished the season in was very good.”

“He is one of those players who will thrive off that confidence.”

“It has been difficult for him in other years when he has not really played or been a key player. He was always coming on as a substitute or getting a few minutes here and there.

“So it is nice for him now to feel a little bit more involved and I’m sure that will give him a lot of confidence.”
