Pre-season is well under way now for the majority of Football League clubs, and while our attentions are still firmly on the FIFA World Cup in Russia, there are some serious goals being scored all across England.
Many teams played their first pre-season friendlies on Saturday, with kick-offs being pushed forward to 12:30pm so that everyone was able to watch the England match after.
The idea of pre-season friendlies is to get some match fitness under your belt, and get used to the tactics set out by your manager. Results are not particularly important, but it is always nice to get the wins, especially if you score some excellent goals in the process.
And that is exactly what happened on Saturday for Leeds United youngster Tyler Denton, who has recently joined Peterborough United on a season long loan deal.
Yesterday, the72 reported that the 22-year-old defender had scored after 19 minutes in his first game for the Posh, who are managed by former Leeds United boss Steve Evans.
Well, not many Leeds United fans will have seen the goal, but here it is:
The video was taken from Peterborough United’s official Youtube page, and the goal can be seen if you head to just 14 seconds in.
It may only be a friendly match, but the quality of the goal has given Peterborough United fans a lot of hope ahead of the new season, and they really feel that Tyler Denton could play a massive part of their success for the 2018/19 season.
