After Preston North End’s last showing against local Premier League club Liverpool at Deepdale the Lilywhites’ now travel down the road to local Evo-stick Division One North team, Bamber Bridge Fc.

The annual fixture will kick off at the newly re-named Sir Tom Finney Stadium with both teams coming into the new season on the back of play-off defeats. Tuesdays clash which has regularly attracted a 1,500 plus crowd, will be Bamber Brig’s  fifth game of their successful pre-season as they prepare for the start of next month’s Northern Division One campaign.

This time last year Preston hit Bamber Bridge for six comfortably winning the fixture 6-0, with the Whites taking the lead within a minute.

Bamber Bridge Fc have been on a good run of form during their pre-season being unbeaten in four, with three victories under their belt..

Brig come into this game with victories over Longridge Town Fc, AFC Brigg & Chorley FC and also a draw against Championship club Bolton Wanderers. Things are looking positive for the club at this moment in time who will once again be challenging for promotion this season.

Andy Bell : Age 30

Ex-Blackburn youth Andy Bell is one of Brig’s key men upfront boasting a great games to goal ratio since his transfer to the club back in March 2012. Bell has played previously  for current League one club Fleetwood Town however the team at the time were based in the Northern Premier Division.

Bell has currently got off the mark this pre-season with a hatrick against AFC Brig, He will this season though face competition from new signing Stuart Vasey for a starting place in Brig’s starting XI.


Matty Kay : Age 24

Position: Centre Midfield

Club captain Kay was one of Bamber Bridge’s top performers in the 2013/2014 season, his constant high level of performances had lead to offers from rival teams trying to take Kay away from Sir Tom Finney Stadium however Kay stayed loyal to the club and had currently signed a new contract at the club.

The captain has been commanding his team where in this pre-season the team have shown resolve and determination to come back from falling behind.


Away Team:

Preston North End will look be looking to build on their weekend game against Liverpool where although losing PNE gave a very good showing against the Prem opponents .

Neil Kilkenny : Age 28

Position: Central Midfield

The Australian gave a perfect example of how much he contributes to the team during the previous game at Deepdale, he looks to pick up the ball from the defence and be that vital link between the back line and forwards, generally staying in possession of the ball and keeping it  simple passing wise.

As well as them traits he possesses the also closes down opposition his mind set of breaking down play.

Josh Brownhill : Age 18

Position: Central Midfield

App for club: 24 / Goals: 3.

A former Manchester United youth player, Brownhill was snapped up by Preston when he was released from United.

Josh process’s a fantastic first touch and attacking instinct that far surpasses his current age. Coming into his second full season with North End the lime light will be expected to shine on him along with fellow young Irish midfielder Alan Browne who is also showing to be one for the future for the Lilly Whites.
