Joe Urquhart of the Yorkshire Evening Post has tweeted that Leeds United are set to let defender Paudie O’Connor leave on to League One side Blackpool on a season-long loan.

O’Connor moves to Blackpool just a week after signing a contract extension with the Whites and this seems to be as part of Marcelo Bielsa’s plan to ensure that everybody in Leeds United’s squad is utilized and developing and nobody is stagnant within the club.

It’s thought Bielsa favours a thinner squad at Elland Road and is prepared to let his fringe players move elsewhere on loan to continue playing regular football, should he need to call on them in the future.

There seems to have been a mass exodus of players from Elland Road during the past 24 hours with four players leaving in Andy Lonergan, Jay-Roy Grot, Tyler Denton and now Paudie O’Connor.

This would suggest that Marcelo Bielsa is clearing out his squad so there is room for new recruits to move into Elland Road  – which could suggest that Whites fans are due some positive news shortly.

Leeds United fans have been waiting for transfer news tentatively with hope that the club can bring in some big-name recruits and with the huge build up bar the loan signing of Lewis Baker at the weekend, fans are becoming increasingly nervous as to whether the club can secure deals for the high-profile targets the club have been linked with.

We’ll see in the coming hours if anybody does make the move to Elland Road.
