Could Britt Assombalonga be set to move back to Nottingham Forest?

The Northern Echo have reported that Middlesbrough Striker Britt Assombalonga has fallen out with Boro boss Tony Pulis, and apparently his former club Nottingham Forest are interested in securing the strikers signature ahead of next season.

Assombalonga enjoyed a particularly prolific time at Nottingham Forest despite several injury issues, netting 30 times in 65 games for the Reds and supposedly both Birmingham City and Forest are interested in signing the striker.

The striker boasts an incredible goalscoring record in his career so far with 108 goals in 238 games during his career and with his former employers’ Forest looking to gear up a serious promotion challenge, he could be tempted to force a move back to the City Ground.

It’s been well reported that Forest are looking to sign a striker in the coming weeks and have been linked with a number of names including Peterborough United’s Jack Marriot and Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban as well as Boro’s Patrick Bamford.

If Assombalonga is available, although he would be a costly option for Forest, he’d most likely prove to be more than worth it given the fact he’s performed impressively at the City Ground before and would be moving to a promotion chasing club who would most likely give him excellent service.

Assombalonga would be a huge coup for Forest if they chose to make a move for the striker and would definitely bring goals to a team that needs a prolific striker to ensure the club reach promotion.

It remains to be seen if Forest will swoop to sign their former striker but if they do, they could be a huge force to be reckoned with next season.
