Former Belgian Under-19 international handed second chance with Gills

Gillingham manager Steve Lovell has offered out of contract Belgian midfielder Franck Moussa the opportunity to prove his worth during the club’s pre-season programme according to Kent Online.

The 28-year-old former Anderlecht and West Ham United apprentice spent the second half of last season with The Gills after signing a short term contract at Priestfield Stadium but struggled to make an impact in Kent.

Moussa has not been offered a new contract by Gillingham but the door has been left open for the player by The Gills boss Lovell who has invited him to join the club during pre-season.

Two different Gillingham sides will take on Folkestone Invicta and Sheppey United on Saturday before they will face Faversham Town and Bromley on Tuesday evening. Moussa is likely to feature for one of those Gills sides in those fixtures.

The midfielder has plenty of experience in the English Football League. Moussa made 103 appearances for Southend United in which he scored eight goals at the start of his career while he made handfuls of appearances for Wycombe Wanderers, Leicester City, Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield.

A move to Coventry City saw the player make 92 appearances in which he scored 20 goals before joining Charlton Athletic, returning to former club Southend United and moving to Walsall.

The 2017/2018 campaign saw Moussa play less than 90 minutes of first team football all season and the player must now take the opportunity to get his career back on track.
