Today the news came about of Austria international forward Andreas Weimann leaving Derby County to join fellow Championship promotion chasers Bristol City for a fee of around £2m.
The attacker – capped 14 times at senior international level by Austria – spent three seasons with the Rams, including a year long loan spell at fellow Midlands side Wolves, after signing from Aston Villa for £3.4m. He was bought by the Villa Park club as a 15-year-old from Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna.
The general consensus from the South West club’s fans, was that they felt very positively about the signing and believe that the signing shows signs of progress for Bristol City:
Great signing….the type that (hopefully) shows the progress we are making. Welcome @andiweimann 🔴⚽️⚪️⚽️

From the other end of the deal, Derby County fans had only great things to say about ‘Andi’ and were generally sad to see him leave, but weren’t so upset that they believed that they were losing a crucial member of the team.
Farewell Andi. Thanks for your 100% commitment while you were with us. Good luck in Bristol.
