West Brom striker attracting interest from Turkey

West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon is attracting the interest of Turkish giants Besiktas, according to TRT Sport.

The Venezuelan forward joined the Baggies in 2015 and has spent three years at The Hawthorns.

He has made 108 appearances during his time in the West Midlands, scoring 24 goals.

However, after the clubs relegation to the Championship, it looks unlikely that Darren Moore will be able to keep hold of his star striker.

He scored 7 goals in the Premier League last campaign, but it wasn’t enough to save West Brom from relegation to the second tier.

He joined the club for a record fee of £12m from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg, but his time in the Black Country appears to be over, with Besiktas at the front of the cue for his services.

The target man has a £16.5million release clause at The Hawthorns and it looks increasingly likely that it will be met by Besiktas.

It has been reported that Premier League Newcastle United are in for Rondon as they look to solve the goalscoring crisis at St James’ Park next season.

Ayoze Perez was the only man to hit double figure in Tyneside last season, as Gayle and Joselu struggled.

Rondon is a proven scorer at Premier League level, but the Magpies look set to miss out on one of their top targets.

Darren Moore will be attempting to get the Baggies promoted at the first time of asking next season, but he will have to do it without his star striker in the Championship.
