Former Bristol Rovers and Sunderland defender has joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan

Chelsea centre-back and former Bristol Rovers and Sunderland loanee Jake Clarke-Salter has signed for Vitesse Arnhem on loan, confirmed by the club website.

Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem have completed the loan signing of former Bristol Rovers and Sunderland loanee Jake Clarke-Salter from Chelsea.

Clarke-Salter about his new step: “I have heard good stories from different guys about Vitesse, including from Lewis Baker and Izzy Brown. Also the progress that Matt Miazga has made makes me very curious about my chances at Vitesse. I want to combine my power with football power.”

About Jake Clarke-Salter –

Jake Clarke-Salter started his youth career at the age of 10 in the youth academy of Chelsea.

On 2 April 2016, Clarke-Salter made his debut in the first team for Chelsea , during the 4-0 win against Aston Villa.

In 2016/17 season, Clarke-Salter joined Bristol Rovers on loan. Having overcome an injury suffered at the end of the previous season, he made his debut there at the end of September and scored in an away win at Oldham, but a broken arm in November removed the young defender from the action temporarily.

Clarke-Salter returned to the action in March, coming on as a sub against Southend, and then made his first start since the injury in an away win at AFC Wimbledon. He managed to make 13 appearances for Bristol Rovers.

Last season, Clarke-Salter was part of the Chelsea squad until January of this year, Clarke-Salter joined Sunderland making 13 appearances for the Black Cats.

Clarke-Salter has had huge success on the international stage for England’s youth teams, featuring as the Under-21s won the Toulon Tournament, also he’s been a part of the side which won the Under-20 World Cup in the summer of 2017. He now continues his development in the Eredivisie.
