Rotherham United snap up Bristol City defender on loan

Rotherham United have signed Zak Vyner on loan from Bristol City for the season as confirmed by the club website.

It seems like when you wait ages for a signing and then three come at once. Ever since Rotherham confirmed their promotion to the Sky Bet Championship, fans have been excited to see who they’ll be bringing in for their return to the second tier. This weekend they made their first two signings with Clark Robertson and Kyle Vassell coming in from Blackpool. And now they have their third signing with Vyner signing on loan for the season.

The 21-year-old defender came through the Bristol City academy but has only made eight appearances for them so far. He has got most of his first team experience out on loan at other EFL teams with stints at Accrington Stanley and Plymouth Argyle, where he won the Young Player of the Season award, helping him to become a better player. But now this loan will give him a chance to play in the Championship which will surely help him get into the Bristol City team upon his return. If nothing else, impressing on this loan could give Vyner a new club by the end of the season.

Vyner could get his first run out as a Rotherham player in the friendly against Parkgate on the 7th July. Should he perform well in pre-season, he could get his competitive Rotherham debut against Brentford in the Championship opener on the 4th August at Griffin Park.
