Bristol City have signed winger Hakeeb Adelakun on a free transfer from League One side Scunthorpe United, as confirmed by their official Twitter account.
The Robins have apparently fought off competition from Premier League and fellow Championship sides to land the highly-rated 22-year-old. He has penned a three-year-deal at Ashton Gate.
Adelakun started his career as a youngster with spells at London duo West Ham United and Crystal Palace but made the move up north to join Scunthorpe in 2012. He since played 160 times for the Iron and helped them gain promotion from League Two in 2014, as well as get to the League One Play-Offs.
He managed 19 goals in his six seasons at Glanford Park but it was mainly last season where Adelakun caught the eye with his blistering pace and power.
Bristol City have now got another decent option on their hands and their fans will be excited to see Adelakun wear the red and white. They can also look forward to another potential signing in Derby County’s Andi Weimann.
For Scunthorpe, losing Adelakun is a blow and they will now be in the hunt for a replacement. They may also now face a battle to hold onto Conor Townsend, who is wanted by his former club Hull City.
Here is how Bristol City fans reacted on Twitter to the announcement of the Hakeeb Adelakun deal-

We've now got six wingers/wide midfielders.Weissman can play wide & so can Joe Bryan IF he doesn't leave. My question "Do we have enough wingers & can you ever have enough wingers?"🤣😇😇#BristolCity
