Brentford are competing with Huddersfield Town for the signature of Nice’s Said Benrahma according to a report from the Yorkshire Post.
Benrahma is not a known player in England but he has been building a decent reputation for himself over in France. After playing for the likes of NRB Bethioua and Colomiers in his youth career, he would eventually be spotted by Nice and come through their youth system. He has already made a few appearances for them but has been able to impress in loan spells at Angers, Gazelec Ajaccio and Chateauroux. He was also capped once by Algeria in 2015.
And he has now impressed enough to earn attention from England with two teams being reported to be after him. One is Brentford who are looking to strengthen their squad so they can get into the Sky Bet Championship play-offs this season after threatening to break into the top six over the last few years. But they are going to face stiff competition. Premier League side Huddersfield Town are also interested in signing him and could make a move for them alongside Brentford to strengthen their squad.
Obviously it will be tough for Brentford to persuade Benrahma to move to them rather than Huddersfield where he would get a chance to play in the Premier League. But the 22-year-old winger may be tempted to head to West London instead as he is more likely to get first team football should he sign for the Bees rather than the Terriers.
