Rotherham United’s Joe Newell has told the club website that he is delighted to get back to training.

It’s an exciting season for Rotherham as they return to the SKy Bet Championship following their play-off final win against Shrewsbury Town last season. And a few players have decided to start their pre-season training today which includes Newell. He is now at the Rotherham training ground preparing for what is going to be a tough season but one that is the reward of all the hard work put in last season.

And Newell has said he can’t wait to reunite with the rest of the squad following their success last season. He has also said that he is happy to get to work early because he believes that just like last season, fitness could be very important as they look to battle against relegation this coming season.

Speaking to the club website, he said: “It doesn’t feel too long ago to be honest but because we’ve been promoted you’re buzzing to get started again,”

“You know how good the season can be that’s coming up. It might have been different if we’d lost in the final but it feels good to be coming back.”

“We had a very long season last season and we all worked very hard,”

“I’ve had a really good four or five weeks off on my holidays and stuff which was well-deserved but as soon as the fixture list came out the other week and you get thinking about all of the games we’re going to play this year it gets you excited to get back.”
