“What a bloke”- Leeds United fans react to Pontus Jansson’s performance for Sweden

Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson played for Sweden yesterday in their World Cup opening game against South Korea.

Sweden have got off to a dream start in Russia after a 1-0 win. Jansson’s defensive partner Andreas Granqvist, who has played in England before with Wigan Athletic in 2014, scored a second-half penalty to earn the three points.

Former Hull City midfielder Seb Larsson also played for Sweden. He has recently left the Championship side to join Swedish giants AIK in the Superettan on a free transfer.

Jansson played the full 90 minutes and impressed for Sweden with a solid performance. The 27-year-old earned his 15th cap for his country. He made his international debut back in January 2012 in a friendly against Bahrain and has not always been a first-team regular for them.

He has become a favourite at Elland Road since his move from Italian Serie A side Torino in 2016. Leeds fans will be hoping that Jansson can help get them to the Premier League next season under their new boss, Marcelo Bielsa.
