Aston Villa lead race to sign Paris FC centre-back

According to a report by Sporting Life, Aston Villa are leading the Championship race to sign Paris FC centre-back, Samuel Yohou.

In the report, it states that there is a trio of Championship sides, one being Aston Villa, interested in getting the 26-year-olds signature. Yohou is now a free agent after the Parisian club let his contract expire.

The defender actually started his career at the Paris based club but after a few seasons there he left for French third-tier side, AS Béziers on a free transfer. He impressed so much in his first season at AS Béziers that Paris FC re-signed him after just one season away from the club. In that season he played in 24 out of a possible 34 games and scored four goals from centre-back.

In August 2017 Parisian news outlet ‘Le Parisien’ reported that “In eighteen months, he has established himself as one of the best central defenders of the National at Epinal then Beziers.”

After resigning, last season, he played in 24 competitive matches for the Ligue Deux side. Scoring one goal and assisting another.

Following the confirmed departure of John Terry and what seems to be imminent departure of James Chester, a new central defender is just what Aston Villa need. Given their current financial state Villa don’t have the money to be splashing out on new defenders so this free transfer seems perfect for them.

The other two clubs keeping tabs on this 26-year-old are unknown at this time but this may not matter because Villa are keen to get their hands on this man and look to be the team who eventually will.
