Young West Brom defender Jack Fitzwater has signed a new deal with the club as he sets his sights on breaking in to the first team.
The 20 year old has now committed his future to the club until at least 2020.
Fitzwater spent time away from the Baggies last season as he split his season between Forest Green Rovers and fellow Midlanders Walsall.
He impressed during his spells on loan and it was enough for West Brom manager Darren Moore to offer the academy graduate a new and improved deal.
The defender made 14 appearances for Forest Green during the first half of the season, where he scored 2 goals for the Green Devils.
After making a few stand out performances at The New Lawn, Fitzwater jumped up a division and made 15 appearances at The Banks’ stadium for Walsall, contributing to 5 clean sheets and scoring 3 goals.
Now West Brom find themselves in the Championship, and Fitzwater has a real chance of breaking through in to the senior side next season.
He has yet to make a first team appearance for his boyhood club, but believes that this is his time to shine at Albion.
Speaking to the club website, he said: “I’m really excited that it’s all sorted and I can look forward to next season,
“Hopefully this is the time for me to break into the first team and push into the starting eleven.”
Fitzwater has impressed during his time in the lower leagues of the football pyramid and this season could see him make his long awaited debut for the Baggies.
