Premier League side express interest in Bristol City defender

Bristol City left back Joe Bryan is attracting interest from Premier League new boys Fulham, according to Bristol Live. They want a new signing in this position, and believe the 24-year-old would fit the bill just nicely.

Slavisa Jokanovic had Matt Targett on loan from Southampton last season, playing a big role in helping Fulham return to the top flight. However, it looks as though Mark Hughes wants him in his own first-team squad at St Mary’s Stadium, so Jokanovic is looking for a replacement. Bryan is the man that he wants.

The Cottagers clearly have funds to boost their squad after their Wembley victory over Aston Villa last month, in the ‘richest game in football’. Snapping up Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic is their first priority following a productive loan spell from Newcastle United last season. However, they have identified Bryan as someone who can boost their squad and they believe he is ready to test himself in the Premier League.

Bristol City have been trying to tie down the left-sided player to a new contract at Ashton Gate. At this stage, there has been no such agreement in place between the concerned parties. Whilst they want him to stay, they may soon start to being resigned to the prospect of losing him. It is understood that Fulham are not the only team that wish to sign him this summer.

It is believed that Lloyd Kelly, a young left back, will get more first-team opportunities next season. Johnson though might not be so keen on having him as first-choice in this department. If Bryan does indeed move on, a replacement will have to be sought. Sam McQueen of Southampton has been touted as one possibility.
