5 Championship strikers who could make a real impact this season

4. Matty Fryatt – Nottingham Forest

Matty FryattFryatt joins Forest from Premier League Hull City and both he and the Reds will be hoping for much improvement on each of their last campaigns. The forward barely got a look in whilst at Hull last season, scoring only 1 league goal in a 6-0 win against Fulham and 1 goal in the FA Cup. Fryatt did however enjoy a successful short loan spell in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday, scoring 4 goals in 9 matches as well as incredibly starting in the FA Cup final for Hull against Arsenal at Wembley. Forest on the other hand, ended up finishing 11th in the Championship after being in the Play-Off hunt for the majority of the season. Injuries and behind the scenes antics from their comical chairman, Fawaz Al-Hasawi blighted a highly anticipated season. Turning it into more of a nightmare for the City Ground supporters. However, Forest can take heart in the fact that key players are returning to fitness and a new regime is now in place under Stuart Peace. Fyratt as well as all Forest fans will be hoping for more of the same goal scoring form that he showed whilst at local rivals Leicester City where he scored 51 goals for the club. For much of last season, Forest lacked an out-an-out goal threat with Andy Reid the clubs top scorer netting on just 9 occasions. Fryatt could be the answer to Forest’s woes and on a free transfer has the potential to be the deal of the summer should he fire them to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.
