Derby County to raid Chelsea with promising left-back linked

Chelsea left-back Jay DaSilva is a loan target for Derby County, according to The Sun.

The Rams are keen to bolster their squad this summer and bounce back from last seasons’ Play-Off disappointment.

Their new manager, Frank Lampard, is hoping to use his links with his former club Chelsea to bring some fresh talent to his newly inherited squad. Jay DaSilva, who is a promising left-back, is the first to be linked with a move to Pride Park.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at League One side Charlton Athletic and impressed for them. He played 44 games for them in all competitions and was a key reason why they reached the Play-Offs.

DaSilva has never made a senior appearance for Chelsea but is being tipped for a big future at Stamford Bridge. He started his career at his local side Luton Town but was snapped up by the Blues in 2012 when he was aged 13. He has since risen through the youth ranks at the London giants and has been a regular for their youth teams.

He also has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 levels so far in his short career. DaSilva is one for the future and would benefit from a season in the Championship with Derby County if they could guarantee him regular first-team action under Frank Lampard’s guidance.
