Oldham Athletic have announced that Frankie Bunn is new first team manager on a one-year deal, but how have Oldham fans reacted to this appointment?
Bunn is no stranger to Boundary Park, as the former Latics’ striker made 88 appearances and scored 35 goals for the club between 1987 and 1990 before his career was cut short through injury.
He famously scored six goals in a third round League Cup tie against Scarborough, a record which still stands to this day.

After his playing career, whilst he hasn’t been a manager, Frankie Bunn has had a number of coaching roles at clubs such as Manchester City, Wigan Athletic, Coventry City and most recently Huddersfield Town.
His only experience as a manager was at Coventry City were he was appointed caretaker manager before returning to his first-team coach role at the club under Chris Coleman.
Throughout his time in coaching he has developed young players and brought through the next generation of talent at clubs such as Manchester City where he was the reserve manager and Huddersfield Town where he was a professional development coach working closely with their academy and under 18s.
But now Frankie has been given a chance is management and his aim will be to try and get Oldham out of League Two.
Speaking about the appointment, owner Abdallah Lemsagam said: “We are delighted to welcome Frankie Bunn to the club as first team manager.”
“He knows the club very well from his playing time here and he has a wealth of experience working with young talent which has impressed me.”
“I believe he can take the club forward and give Boundary Park something to cheer about.”
Here how Oldham fans have reacted to the appointment of Frankie Bunn as manager:
Wealth of experience at a higher level with older and younger players, played a part in the history of OAFC, hopefully exciting times, got time to build a squad with hopefully the backing of a new owner in AL. #oafc #fbbawa pic.twitter.com/6lB3TXfKUY

Best of luck to our new gaffer Frankie Bunn, personally think it's a great appointment. The situation we are in we needed someone who knows the club and the fans, plus may get a few old boys back through the gates.
Onwards and upwards #OAFC
