Derby, Rotherham, and Blackburn keen on Scunthorpe midfielder

Championship trio Derby, Rotherham, and Blackburn are all keen on a move for Scunthorpe United midfielder Duane Holmes, according to a report from Sky Sports.

Holmes was a key part of Scunthorpe’s impressive season as he helped the iron to a League One Playoff Semi-Final.

However, Scunthorpe lost out to eventual promotion winners Rotherham United and their failure to reach the Championship could prompt the departure of their star midfielder.

During his two year spell at Glanford Park he has been a key figure for the club, last season he notched 9 goals, as well as registering 5 assists.

The American signed a two year deal with the club in 2016, but Scunthorpe exercised their option to extend his deal until the end of next season in May.

He is now stranger to playing in the Championship as he made 22 appearances for Huddersfield after graduating from the Terriers academy.

His impressive performances for the club saw him shortlisted for the Championship Apprentice of the Year in 2013, but he lost out to Nottingham Forest’s Dimitar Evtimov.

Rotherham and Blackburn both gained promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking last season, and they’ll be hoping to build a squad capable of surviving relegation.

Frank Lampard recently took over at Derby County and the Chelsea legend is preparing for his first season in football management.

Holmes looks set to depart Glanford Park with a trio of clubs chasing his signature, however, it is unclear as to where his future lies.
