Newcastle United the latest club to join the race for Villa midfielder

Newcastle United are reportedly the latest club to have an interest in a move for Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish, according to The Mirror.

Grealish has become a man in demand this summer as a whole host of Premier League clubs are vying for his services.

The 22 year old is Villa’s biggest asset and could be sacrificed in order to find a short term cash solution.

Villa have hit financial trouble in recent weeks, and it is understood that they are ready to part ways with the academy graduate to the highest bidder.

It has been reported over the past few weeks that Tottenham, Leicester, and even Manchester United all have an interest in Grealish.

Despite picking up an injury at the beginning of the campaign, Grealish worked his way back into Steve Bruce’s staring eleven and has impressed throughout the season.

He was instrumental in helping the Villains reach the Playoff Final, but despite his best efforts, he was unable to help propel Villa back into the top flight.

In 27 appearances this season the boyhood Villa fan scored three goals as well as turning provider on 6 occasions.

Steve Bruce has signalled his intent to keep hold of his main man this summer and build a team around him, but he may be resigned to losing Grealish after Villa’s recent financial woes.

After surviving the drop last season, Newcastle will be hoping to craft a squad during the summer which will ensure they are not embroiled in another relegation dogfight next campaign.

It is unclear where Grealish will end up come the end of the transfer window, but he would be a smart signing for Rafa Benitez and could easily slide into the Magpies first team.
