Sheffield Wednesday’s home friendly announced by opposition club

Sheffield Wednesday will be facing NAC Breda in a friendly according to their official website.

The Owls are starting to announce some of their pre-season friendlies and at the moment the ones confirmed on their website are away fixtures at fairly local teams with matches against Lincoln City and Mansfield Town lined up. But the friendly most are excited for is the home friendly especially as there has been plenty of interesting ones lined up in the recent past. Over the last few years they have faced the likes of Newcastle United, Rangers and Benfica at Hillsborough.

But this time they will be facing an Eredivisie side with a match against NAC Breda lined up. While this is not on Wednesday’s website yet, the Breda website states that there is a friendly between the two sides set to take place at Hillsborough on Saturday 21st July. With Jos Luhukay himself being Dutch, it may not come as a surprise to many that they are having a fixture with a team from the country though because they aren’t a big name it will be disappointing to some.

Last season was NAC Breda’s return to the Eredivisie and they were able to stay in the division after they finished 14th. They lack many big name players but they do have two English players on the books. James Horsfield came through the Manchester City academy before heading to Breda while Fisayo Adarabioyo played for the likes of Crystal Palace and Macclesfield Town before heading to the Netherlands. Next season they will hope to push up the Eredivisie table.
