Reading lead Nottingham Forest in race for third tier playmaker

Reading are currently odds on favourites to secure the signing of highly rated Peterborough United attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison.

Popular bookmakers Bet Victor have made the Royals 4/6 favourites to sign Maddison, who has excelled for Sky Bet League One side Peterborough United over the last few seasons.

He currently boasts the most assists over the last three seasons in the whole of the country, and that is why he is wanted by a number of Sky Bet Championship sides.

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Maddison for a long while now, but they have dropped down to second favourites, being given odds of 4/1.

Forest are edging ever closer to securing the signature of Marcus Maddison’s Peterborough United team mate Jack Marriott, but it appears they will miss out on Maddison.

Last week, Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirmed that it is unlikely that both players will move to the same club, consequently putting Reading in pole position.

The Posh chairman had excited fans from a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs yesterday when he tweeted confirming that Peterborough United had accepted a seven figure bid from an unnamed club for one of their players.

Rumours began to surface that it could be Marcus Maddison, but it turns out it was Leonardo Da Silva Lopes, who completed his move to recently promoted Wigan Athletic earlier today.

Sky Bet League One side Sunderland are currently third favourites to sign Maddison, but it is unlikely that Peterborough will want to sell to a team in the same league as them.
