Swindon Town have announced that former Oldham midfielder Anton Rodgers on a one-year contract.
According to BBC Sports, the 21-year-old son of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had been on trail with the southern club following his release from the Latics at the back end of last season.
Rodgers will be Swindon Towns first signing of the summer, speaking to the club’s official website, Rodgers stated:
“I’m from down the road in Reading so it was something I was interested in doing and I’m glad it’s done now,”
“I started my professional career at Brighton, before moving to Oldham. I was up close with my family there with my dad at Liverpool. I just wanted to move closer back to home.”
The U19 International for Republic of Ireland then went on to add:
“I like to get on the ball, set the play up and play through the lines of midfield, nick a goal if I can. I just want to play as much as I can.”
Rodgers who made 14 appearances for Oldham last season will be hoping he can get more playing time for The Robins.
