Rotherham United manager Paul Warne is keen on signing loan man Joshua Emmanuel on a permanent deal following the Millers promotion to the Championship.
However, Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst has just joined the Tractor Boys and will be keen to look over all aspects of his new squad, including the young right back.
The 20 year old made 31 appearances for the Millers this season after establishing himself as the clubs first choice right back.
Speaking to It’s Millers Time, Paul Warne said: “I’d like to keep Josh, he makes me pull my hair out at times what little I have got, but he is great going forward and he is definitely exciting for a number of reasons.
“He is a great kid. I can see Hursty thinking he will keep him as I would. That will be the most difficult of the loans.”
Emmanuel impressed during his time at the New York Stadium and his performances did not go unnoticed by others up and down the Football League.
He remained coy on his future with Rotherham, but admitted that his time at the club had been ‘life changing’.
He said: “This has been life changing, every footballer wants to be playing week in week out and thanks to the gaffer and the coaching staff.
“It has been a great opportunity and I am so thankful that is has turned out well.
“We will see what happens, obviously I am an Ipswich player but I just want to celebrate now.”
Rotherham will be desperate to re-sign a key part of their promotion campaign, but it will be difficult and they may have to start looking elsewhere.
