Peterborough United fans react to latest signing

Earlier today, the72 reported that Peterborough United had confirmed the signing of Lincoln City midfielder Alex Woodyard.

The former Imps man completed his move to the ABAX Stadium, joining the Cambridgeshire club for an undisclosed fee and signing a two year deal at the club, with the option there for an extra year.

Woodyard becomes the fifth signing Steve Evans has made at Peterborough United as he tries to stamp his own mark on the squad.

Woodyard joins Aaron Chapman, Rhys Bennett, Colin Daniel and Mark O’Hara, who have all moved to the Posh this summer.

Lincoln City fans rated Alex Woodyard highly, and his departure will hit the imps hard. He played a huge role in earning them promotion back to the Football League in 2016/17, and even helped them to the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup.

He also played a crucial role at the heart of Lincoln’s midfield this season with former Posh man Michael Bostwick. The Imps reached the Sky Bet Two Play-Offs, but lost to Exeter City in the Semi Finals.

Following confirmation of the transfer, Peterborough United fans were quick to take to Twitter to share their feelings. Here is a look at what some of them had to say:

Peterborough fans are well known for moaning about their new signings, but this supporter can not see what they have to moan about with the signing of Woodyard.

Even the most difficult of Posh fans seem pleased with this signing…

A couple of Posh players have been linked with a move to Lincoln City, and this fan thinks that could be a part of this deal.

Many Posh fans tweeted Alex Woodyard to welcome him to the club.
