Aston Villa interested in move for Carpi defender

Aston Villa are showing an interest in Carpi defender Tobias Pachonik, according to TurkishFootball.com.

The 23-year-old is out of contract next month meaning he will available to sign on a free transfer. He is also attracting interest from Southampton, Frankfurt and Fiorentina.

Tobias Pachonik has played 38 games for all competitions for Carpi and has impressed for them in Serie B this season and is being tipped for a big future in the game.

Aston Villa are looking to bounce back from their disappointment of missing out on promotion to the Premier League in the Play-Off final against Fulham. However, they may be strapped for cash this summer and need to balance their books for another campaign in the Championship.

Villa may have to sell some key players over the coming months in order to comply with financial fair play. There have been rumours of interest in Jack Grealish. They will have to target some new signings who will not be too expensive but would still bolster their ranks.

Pachonik will be available on a free transfer so would not be too costly for Steve Bruce’s side. He would also bolster their defensive options for next season.

The German defender started his career at FC Nurnberg and was snapped up by FC Schalke in 2006. However, his chances at Schalke were hard to come by and he was allowed to join Carpi last summer on a free transfer. He could be set for another move this summer with Aston Villa keen.
