Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson’s agent Anders Karlsson has told Fotboll Direkt, with comments being reported by Inside Futbol, that there is a lot of interest in his client.
This time last year, Antonsson had been firmly frozen out of the first team picture. This was why he was loaned out to Blackburn Rovers for the season. He performed well while at Ewood Park as well, scoring eight times in 34 appearances and being a key player as they got promoted from Sky Bet League One at the first attempt.
Now that Antonsson is back at Leeds, his future is uncertain. The man who sent him out on loan, Thomas Christiansen, is no longer the manager at Leeds but current head coach Paul Heckingbottom may not be there for much longer either. Reports have linked with him with a move back to Sweden with Malmo and Hammarby said t be interested though Blackburn are also reportedly keen to bring him back to Lancashire.
One thing that is for sure is that plenty of teams want to sign him this summer. His agent confirmed that, saying: “Yes, interest is great in Marcus.”
“But today we do not know what Leeds want and has a year left on his contract.”
“I think in a month we will know more.”
This could be dismissed as an agent trying to get more interest in his client but it does appear that Antonsson’s future depends on who will be in the Leeds hot seat going into next season.
