Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to lure Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish to Old Trafford this summer, according to The Sun. Following play-off defeat to Fulham, Aston Villa face the prospect of losing some of their key players.
Whilst Man Utd are strongly linked with the summer signing of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, Mourinho still wants to add more depth in the forward areas to make his side more exciting in the final third. Grealish is a Villa fan, but may find it hard to turn down a chance at Premier League football once again.
Grealish, aged only 22, is deemed a future star and someone who could hold down a place in the United side for years for come. He has made over 100 appearances for the club, who are bracing themselves for a third consecutive season in the Sky Bet Championship. Captain John Terry is already likely to leave, having supposedly told his teammates that is the case.
The fact that Grealish won’t be at a World Cup this summer means that any potential deal won’t be as complicated, should he be so. That being said, it would still be a tough call for him to leave a club he clearly loves so much. Manchester United however may only come around once in any career.
Grealish turns 23 in September, and the Red Devils hope to get the deal done as soon as possible. With Villa fearing the need to cut their wage budget, with parachute payments coming to an end, Grealish could be sold. With Manchester United interested, his next destination could very well be Old Trafford.
