Grealish, Steve Bruce determined to keep hold of Villa superstar this summer

Steve Bruce determined to keep hold of Villa superstar this summer

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce believes that Villa is the perfect club for Jack Grealish to further his development, and is determined to keep hold of the midfielder this summer.

The former Hull City boss believes that one more year with the Midland club would be beneficial to Grealish, as he looks to climb up the footballing ladder.

Grealish has been ever present in the Villa midfield this season, and he has re-found the form that made him one of the hottest prospects in English football.

He wont be short of offers this summer, but Bruce believes its best that the Villa academy graduate remains with the club.

Speaking to the Express and Star, Bruce said: “For me another year would be the best thing for him whatever league we are in,

“I practically tried to build the team around him. Unfortunately, he got injured. Whether there are bids, I would not be surprised. If anyone has watched us since Christmas, he has been outstanding.

“I think he just has to be careful. I hope he has got a trust in me, where, if he does have to move on, the timing has to be right for both parties.”

Villa take on Fulham in the Playoff final on Saturday, and the Villains will need Grealish to be on top form if they want to return to the top flight.

“Let’s hope we can be in the Premier League. I would rather have it we can give him everything he needs.” Said Bruce.

“Yes, everyone wants to play in the Premier League. But he is only 22, he still has a lot to offer.”

Bruce failed in his quest to take Villa back to the Premier League at the second time of asking, but Grealish played a big part in Villa’s effort, the Midland side going down 1-0 to Fulham in today’s Championship Play-Off Final.

However, Bruce will be hoping that the stylish midfielder stays and becomes instrumental in taking the club to the next level, the Premier League being the ultimate goal.
