Stoke City star tipped for return to Germany

Stoke City’s attacker Eric Maxim Choupo Moting has been tipped for a return to Germany, despite just one season in England.

The Cameroonian international joined Stoke last August, signing a three year deal at the Bet365 stadium. However, the Potters were relegated from the Premier League, and Choupo Moting is expected to leave the club this summer.

Bookmakers Bet Victor have given strong odds suggesting that the forward will return to Germany, where he had previously spent the whole of his career.

The bookmakers have given him odds of 4/1 to sign for any German League club, whilst he is out at 6/1 to sign for any Italian or French club.

Despite representing Cameroon at full international level, Eric Maxim Choupo Moting was actually born in Hamburg in Germany, and played for both the under 19 and under 21 youth sides for Germany.

Choupo Moting started his career at his hometown club Hamburg, before moving to top flight rivals FSV Mainz in 2011.

In July 2014, the Cameroonian moved on a free transfer again, joining German giants Schalke. It was here that Choupo Moting really made a name for himself, scoring 18 goals and helping the German side to compete in the Champions League.

He arrived at Stoke City back in 2017, and the Potters fans were excited to see their new arrival in action, but he failed to live up to expectations. He played 30 times in the Premier League for Stoke, scoring just five goals.

However, despite not particularly impressing in the Premier League, he is expected to be the subject of plenty of interest from top flight clubs around Europe.
