Blackburn Rovers weighing up move for Premier League midfielder

Blackburn Rovers are considering a loan move for Manchester City midfielder Jacob Davenport, according to the Derbyshire Telegraph.

The 19-year-old got his first taste of senior football on loan at Burton Albion in the Championship during the latter part of this season. Manchester City could loan him out again this summer for more first-team experience.

Blackburn Rovers are reportedly showing an interest in him. Tony Mowbray’s side will be back in the Championship after their promotion from League One. They are keen to bolster their midfield and Davenport is ideal for them.

Davenport rose through the youth ranks at Manchester City and has been a key player for their youth teams. He has not made a senior appearance for them but their manager, Pep Guardiola, is believed to be a big fan and many are tipping him for a big future.

He joined Burton Albion on loan in January and made his debut for the Brewers in February. He played 18 games for them in the Championship and scored once. However, he could not prevent them from slipping into League One under Nigel Clough.

Davenport could be handed another crack at the Championship with Blackburn Rovers next season. He would offer them another option and add depth to their midfield options. Rovers fans will be hoping for some new signings this summer to improve their chances of success in the next campaign back in the second tier.
